不思議の国のアリサ

Vulnerability” — introducing the artist 不思議の国のアリサ (Alice in Wonderland)

不思議の国のアリサ (Alice in Wonderland)

Born in Shirokane, Minato City, Tokyo, she moved to Las Vegas at the age of three. Drawn to art from childhood, she joined the Las Vegas Art Club throughout elementary and junior high school, then transferred to the art school LVA in high school, where she began her formal study of oil painting and sculpture.

She went on to study painting, performance, and digital art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).

In the spring of 2018 she based herself in Japan, signing with Oscar Promotion and working as a model and TV personality. After serving as an MC on NHK's "Sokuresu Eikaiwa," she is now active across a range of fields.

Inspired by the Tokyo art scene, she currently creates character figures with a 3D printer using 3D software.

Working from the theme of "the pure self," she gives her characters expressions that capture emotions we feel in everyday life—tears of joy, happiness, sadness, and more.

[Staff Comment]

These expressive babies pour their whole hearts into conveying their feelings. The face of each piece is rendered with such delicacy that the figures seem ready to cry out and spring into motion at any moment. By rendering each baby in a single color, the emotion comes across all the more clearly, and you can really feel how wholeheartedly these babies express themselves! You can see 不思議の国のアリサ's wonderful works in person at the venue. Please do stop by.

[Exhibition Information]

Vulnerability

The concept of this exhibition, "Vulnerability," carries the message of "showing your honest self."

Revealing the parts of ourselves we would rather hide and exposing our weaknesses can sometimes leave us hurt—but it can also lead to surprisingly positive outcomes. Though the word carries a negative nuance, expressing the actions and feelings that are hard to show others is itself a strength, and the self-disclosure of revealing our honest selves can become a spark that makes life all the richer.
In sympathy with that idea, we present the three-artist exhibition "Vulnerability," featuring three artists who express themselves even as they wrestle with their own struggles.
Artworks by 不思議の国のアリサ, ITOSHI SAKHRANI, and REI INABA will be on display and available for purchase.
In addition, on Saturday, November 19 and Saturday, November 26 during the exhibition, we are planning a reception party and talk session for a select group of guests, with the artists in attendance. (Details will be sent to members of the +ART GALLERY online store and to guests connected with the artists.)
Introductions and interview videos of the participating artists will be shared via our social media (Instagram). Information on the participating artists also appears later in this article, so we hope you will read on.
We look forward to welcoming you.
