In short! The highlight of SAKAMOTO ENTERTAINMENT’s work is the distinctive shapes and textures of mandarin orange peels—that is where to look!
At first glance they are eye-catching, pop works in vivid orange, but behind them lies a profound story.
The inspiration came from the sheer power of the mandarin’s color that the artist felt at her great-grandmother’s cremation. As everything turned to ash, only the mandarin placed in the coffin shifted to a wine-red—holding onto its color even in death.
From this experience, she felt strength and life in the orange hue of the mandarin.
As a result, SAKAMOTO’s works are not merely orange-colored art; through the familiar motifs of “orange” and “mandarin,” they are created to convey the strength of life.
The mandarin peels used in the “Orange_Peel_Piece_” series—which, being seasonal, can only be made during a limited period—are tanned (preservation-treated). This passion for materials and the research field is exactly what makes SAKAMOTO ENTERTAINMENT unique.
As for the origin of those mandarins, after trying many kinds, she settled on Ehime-grown ones, which offer the very best “color” and “peel texture.”
The silhouettes of the parts—like some kind of letters, or like people—that stir the viewer’s imagination are all shapes created when a “mandarin” is peeled, and their combinations are truly infinite!
In this way, SAKAMOTO ENTERTAINMENT’s work is not merely “orange” or “mandarin,” not merely the beauty of color; it is packed with a strength, energy, and the feelings and stories the artist poured into it that photos and videos simply cannot convey—so please come and experience it for yourself at the gallery!

Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1997. Graduated from the Department of Integrated Design, Tama Art University.
She researches materials and reexamines things from new perspectives, translating them into design and art. muni art award 2022 finalist. Selected for Art Olympia 2022. Selected for the Chōtei GALLERY Exhibition 2022. Selected for SHIBUYA AWARDS 2021. Excellence Award at the 3rd KYOBASHI ART WALL art competition.
