「The Collage Exhibition」Exhibition Announcement
PLUS ART Inc. (head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Taku Nitta), which supports the creators of contemporary art, is pleased to announce that from Monday, July 18, 2022, it will hold "The Collage Exhibition" at "+ART GALLERY" on the 14th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square - a show focused on collage, the artistic technique of cutting out images of all kinds and combining diverse materials to create something new.
*The main visual was created by Q-TA, a collage artist active across many fields.
This is an exhibition dedicated to collage. Rather than simply lining up "collage-like works" in the spirit of "collage: cutting order, combining chaos," we curated creators who approach collage from many directions, hoping visitors will enjoy collage in its broadest sense.

Kei Nojima
Born in 1993 in Fussa, Tokyo.
Creates collage works on the theme of connecting with music, mainly through the groove that arises from the slippage between images and through sampling.
Besides holding solo exhibitions and joining group shows in Japan, also provides artwork for apparel brands and department-store show windows.

・kerocchi
Born in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, in 1997; based in Tokyo. While at university, began creating collage and writing as a form of resistance against loneliness. I can still recall, as vividly as yesterday, the first time I made a collage. As I cut the material with a blade, I felt as though some mass of emotion inside me was being cut open at the same time. Yet I have not reached its inner core, and I am still searching for it even now. Words keep wandering round and round in my head like a discarded satellite, and life goes on while I drag the feelings that come with them. What lies beyond the cutting of materials and that mass of emotion? Perhaps it has already rotted into mush, or perhaps it never existed in the first place. I truly do not know. But pain and sorrow - every emotion - mix and melt and turn into creation. To exhibit is to wound oneself, to heal, and to feel shame. By letting others see these things, I half-expect, a little irritably, that a vague form will begin to emerge.

・オオヤサヤカ
A painter who loves games, anime, and lemons.
Kept painting while working as an apparel designer, and went independent as a painter in 2015.
Works on social themes, often favoring landscapes, plants, and the human body.
Spent childhood immersed in archaeology and history under a father's influence, duly catching a case of "chunibyo."
Outgrew it on entering high school, but, influenced by game character design and anime art, carried over a few lingering effects that led to the current style.
Active energetically across Japan and abroad, centered on Tokyo - from murals for offices to live painting at music festivals.
Engaged in a wide range of work, including artwork and art supervision for films and dramas, and appearances in commercials.

・KYOCOMORI
KYOCOMORI (1988-) is a collage artist and painter from Onomichi, Hiroshima, now based in Chigasaki, Kanagawa. Self-taught from 2016, she has since received exhibition and collage commissions outside Japan. Working mainly with vintage magazines, washi paper, and the wrappers of dagashi sweets, she excels at a nostalgic, pop expression that gives viewers a faint sense of longing.

Eiji Nasu
Born in 1985. From Katsushika-ku, Tokyo. Based in Toride, Ibaraki.
One day in 2014, waking from a nap, his creative switch flipped on. Since then he has made collage, drawing, painting, noise, and more, following wherever the mood leads.
Through social media, has collaborated with collage artists in Japan and abroad, with joint works now numbering over 100.
Since last year, a collaboration with a percussionist has also been underway. The fusion of music and painting had been compiled into videos, and he is now waiting for the right moment for a live performance.
(He has a daughter who will start elementary school next spring.)
