Description: This work is based on the motif of Nanda Dragon King, who is the first of the Eight Great Dragon Kings and one of the 28 followers of the Thousand-Armed Kannon. "Nanda" means "happiness or joy" in Sanskrit. Since ancient times, people have created human figures of gods and Buddhas and worshipped them. Nanda Dragon King is one of them. This work was created with the image of the Dragon King's childhood in mind.
Instead of using ready-made canvas, I use original canvases made by applying a base coat (chalk ground) made from glue to linen fabric and then stretching the fabric over a panel. The sides of the canvas are not primed, leaving the linen exposed to preserve the warmth of a handmade piece. Oil paints are used for the painting.
