[Author introduction] Kotaro Inoue
Introducing HOLBEIN ART FAIR 2022 1st artist Kotaro Inoue
Kotaro Inoue
My work uses motifs such as people, houses, and trees, and focuses on the "darkness" beyond what is physically visible. The darkness mentioned here is not just the black color, but a presence that is often overlooked in a scene, but that hangs within it. I feel that darkness not only gives a sense of awe, but also can sometimes be a source of solitude.

[Staff comment]
Mr. Inoue's works, which depict darkness, have a unique atmosphere and a slightly humid atmosphere. Even in the darkness, each work feels like a story, and as you think about what kind of place and situation this place is in, you're likely to become absorbed in the work. Please come and see Mr. Inoue's wonderful work in person, where you can experience such an immersive feeling ✨✨ (Nagaya)
