Artist: Pro Mushoku Rutty
Profile:
Born 1991 in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.
Since 2016, has worked online under the moniker "Pro Mushoku" (Professional Unemployed). Refusing to be defined by any single occupation, the artist expresses across genres and places as a breakdancer, poet, and YouTuber.
Starting from crowdfunding, Rutty launched projects such as "One-Smartphone Journey (2017)" and "The 100 Interviews (2018)," and built an online salon with 250 members—becoming a pioneer of a way of living that epitomizes the social-media era.
From 2019, began presenting works in the field of contemporary art under the name "Rui Yamaguchi." Employing conceptual methods to intervene in cities and platforms, the practice makes visible the wavering of boundaries and of human agency.
Since 2021, has been a member of "FUTURE GATEWAY," a research hub run by KDDI Research where future lifestyles are envisioned with an eye on the year 2030.
