Kotaro Otsuka

Introducing Kotaro Otsuka, an artist of HOLBEIN ART FAIR 2022 4th

大塚孝太郎

Advertisements flooding the streets; social media and online news seen on our phones.

Information comes easily and it is convenient, yet sometimes it wears you out and you just want to space out.

Before I know it, I am gazing at a corner of the room, unconsciously catching the faint tick of the second hand.

My eyes stay open, fixed on a corner of the room, not really trying to catch anything.

I suddenly notice the unfocused, in-between space reflected in those eyes, and feel a certain comfort in it.

Perhaps it appears all of a sudden, surprisingly within reach.

I find myself simply musing on such things, lost in a daze.

The delicate gradations are simply captivating ✨

Some of the works depict empty cans, which makes them all the more intriguing!

[Staff comment]

In the darkness, a blue haze seems to drift across the surface, drawing you in. Subtle shifts in the blue, places where the haze lifts—I felt these works let you savor the play of light and shade. Like the deep sea, or a far corner of the cosmos, they bring the viewer a sense of calm and stir the imagination. (Fujinuma)
