I create my works by focusing on the gaze of animals. Even if we cannot speak the same language, when we gaze at each other, there is a communication that cannot be expressed in words, and a definite space flows between us. I want viewers to feel the healing and tension that comes from that .
I think that using mineral pigments is itself one of the approaches. Mineral pigments are made from minerals and use animal collagen, called "glue," as an adhesive. They are the most natural pigments currently in existence. I think that by using such Japanese painting materials, the animals I draw become more lively.
