Announcing “Connect with Green — Greenery and Time,” a group exhibition on the theme of greenery

plus art co.,ltd (English name: plus art co.,ltd; located in Shibuya City, Tokyo; CEO: Taku Nitta), which develops its business around the theme of enjoying contemporary art, and For you, Inc. (head office: Shibuya City, Tokyo; Representative Director: Sosuke Noda; hereinafter "For you"), which operates a digital advertising agency business and a talent/influencer management business, will co-host the exhibition "Connect with Green — Greenery and Time."

About the "Connect with Green — Greenery and Time." Exhibition

This exhibition invites you to consider what a "comfortable space" that coexists with nature truly means, now that years of the pandemic have transformed our notions of home and office. With outings restricted, more and more people have come to want, in the very places where they and their loved ones live, things that let them cherish objects for years and offer the "awareness" that comes with reflective time. Among such things, art that draws on nature—terrariums, bonsai and the like—gained great popularity during the pandemic, and many people likely brought such pieces into their homes. In this exhibition, we once again turn our attention to art that lets you feel the texture of nature and contemplate the timescale of the Earth, presenting works that bring new depth to everyday life.

About the Participating Artists

The participating artists include Asu, who delicately renders Japan's beautiful landscapes and nature at one-millionth scale through terrariums and bonsai; Shun Sato, who heads the nature-art brand "wabisabi" under the theme of designing life and death; and Hirotake Imanishi, whose work takes as its theme the proliferation of "cells" and "life energy" that moved him during his years as a researcher, theme Hirotake Imanishi (Imanishi Hirotake), and the photographer Masataka Kougo (Kougo Masataka), who creates works on the theme of nature.

How to Enjoy This Exhibition

The key to enjoying this exhibition lies in works—found nowhere else—that express the dynamism and delicacy of the natural world, from landscapes to living things. Using moss, wood, soil, water and other elements of nature, the artists consistently give form to nature's beauty. From pieces that distill concepts at the cellular scale to terrariums, bonsai, ceramics and photography, you can enjoy works and expressions of widely varying scale, all within a single space.

Artist Introductions

Asu (Minimal Landscape Artist)

Born in 1994. He began creating works in 2016, teaching himself terrarium-making with moss and other materials. In January 2019 he launched a YouTube channel, building works that miniaturize Japan's beautiful nature and landscapes and gaining viewers at home and abroad—surpassing 400,000 subscribers within a year. He currently has 943,000 subscribers. Combining a range of techniques—terrariums, aquariums, bonsai, Chinese penjing and more—he renders Japan's beautiful nature, a treasure handed down from antiquity, at the smallest of scales. By weaving together the cultural context rooted in each landscape, he creates new spaces and experiences.
