Introducing “SYNESTHESIA” artist Tomohiro Shimizu
Tomohiro Shimizu
I would like to capture something like a "phenomenon" rather than a specific form. When small pieces come together, they somehow look like a whole. However, it might be blown apart again and disappear when I take my eyes off it. I would like to record this brief "phenomenon".

The drawings were originally created as drafts for oil paintings.
I express in form shapes that appear like ghosts, people who look like someone but are not, and images created by a mixture of various experiences and memories.

This gave rise to the image of cells coming together to form the human form, and then quickly scattering again.
What's right in front of your eyes just happens to look like that, and the moment you take your eyes off it, it might fall apart and disappear.
I'm trying to gather them up and hold them together before that happens. I feel like my current work is similar to that kind of work.

While the new coronavirus is spreading and people are not allowed to go out, I am listening to the announcement of the number of deaths every day.
This gave rise to the image of cells coming together to form the human form, and then quickly scattering again.

[Staff comment]
Ms. Shimizu's works are skillful in creating blank spaces, and the simple and ephemeral girls drawn in the center of the screen attract the eye✨The girls have a fluffy three-dimensional feel and have a strong presence! The works drawn on a monochrome basis have a modern feel, and depending on the way they are drawn, the images you see will change when you look at them! (Mogi)
