私たちは、どこから来て、どこへ向かおうとしているのか。現代を生きるうえで、その根源的な問いと向き合うことは、しばしば後回しにされがちです。 私は、日本人の精神性と民族の記憶を取り戻し、それを未来の子孫に手渡すことを、芸術を通じて目指しています。自然と調和し、祖先を敬い、子孫の幸せを願うという大和民族の根源的な生き方を、今の時代にどう接続しうるか。その試みのひとつが、本作におけるギリシャ神話の引用です。 ギリシャ神話の「ペルセポネ」は、冥界に連れ去られながらも春になると地上に戻り、花々とともに再びこの世を祝福する女神。 「プロメテウス」は、神々から火を盗み、人間に与えたとされる存在であり、その火は、文化・技術・知恵の象徴として今も語り継がれています。 これらの物語には、「再生」「贈与」「循環」という、人類普遍の精神が宿っています。 それは日本の神話にも通じるものであり、異なる神話を仮の器として借りることで、私たちが本来持っていた精神の輪郭を、今という時代に改めて浮かび上がらせたいと願いました。 この作品は、単なる懐古でも、装飾でもありません。 過去からの継承を未来に接続する、精神のインフラの再設計なのです。

むかし、人間は火を持たなかった。 暗闇のなかにいた人々に、神々から火を盗んで与えたのが、プロメテウスという存在だといいます。 その火は、ただ暖をとるものではありませんでした。 言葉を生み、技術を生み、文化を生み出す。未来へと手渡すための、知恵の光だったのです。 この作品は、そんな火がもう一度、森へと降るイメージから描いています。 森は、名前のつかない日々の暮らし。祖先たちが残したものが、音もなく受け継がれていく場所。 私たちもまた、誰かから火をもらい、知らぬうちに灯し続けているのかもしれません。 この絵は、その火をもう一度見つめなおすための時間をつくりたいと思って描いたものです。
