Blue crab

In my work, I carefully observe and understand the ingredients, handle them, and then paint them after gaining a deeper understanding of them, thereby expressing my respect and gratitude for the ingredients in a way other than eating them. When I obtain the ingredients, I take photos of them when they are at their freshest, cook them, and then paint them after eating them. I also incorporate parts of the ingredients into my art to express my respect for the ingredients that gave their lives. Then, by covering the surface of the painting with epoxy resin (a two-component synthetic resin), the viewer's image is reflected against the black background and appears to overlap with the food, expressing the process of digesting and absorbing the food and becoming part of one's own body. Although food disappears once we eat it, the artwork conveys that it continues to exist as a part of our bodies.
