▼PROFILE
Ryoka Kawauchi
A calligrapher and seal engraver who is active on the stage of calligraphy. Born in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. From the age of six, he began studying calligraphy under a member of the Yomiuri Shoho Association, and currently studies under Kusutei Okano, a member of Nitten. She also studies calligraphy, calligraphy history, and lettering, including assisting her husband, who is a Ph.D. in calligraphy, in his research.
Studied oil painting from an early age and studied abroad in Germany after graduating from university. While abroad, he became acutely aware of his Asian identity, and after returning to Japan, he aspired to pursue a career in oriental art, which he continues to do today. Fascinated by the beauty of the ``golden inscriptions'' cast into ancient Chinese bronze vessels and the ``Spring and Autumn Sengoku Seals'' used during the Spring and Autumn Sengoku Period, he creates works based on these characters. capital
This is the highest exhibition in Japan, and is based on the solid ability and insight into letters that have won awards at numerous prestigious exhibitions, including selection at the Nitten (Japanese Art Exhibition), which is a descendant of the government exhibition. Aiming to create new works with sensitivity. With the motto "As long as it is a character, we must not deviate from the history and essence of kanji itself, and the beauty of line quality," he pursues new beauty in the world of white, black, and vermilion, and holds workshops in addition to running classes. We are also focusing on contributing to the local community and mentoring the next generation.
He is an artist at the Nitten Exhibition, an outstanding selected artist at the Japanese Calligraphy Exhibition, a bishop of the Japan Calligraphy Education Society, a councilor of the All Japan Seal Engraving Federation, a councilor of Goransha, a member of the Bunkyo Ward Calligraphy Federation, and an administrator of the Shōyu Calligraphy Association.

Born in 1986. Real name: Sayuri.
Started learning calligraphy at the age of 6 and became a master of calligraphy at the age of 19. At the age of 23, he encountered ink painting (Nanga). While writing calligraphy, he also draws ink paintings. While feeling the traditional realm where formality and dignity are valued, he uses his brushes to respond to people's wishes. There are “people” behind the work. With this in mind, I continue to create works that are close to people.
