蘭花指（らんかし）の形は、人間の手のジェスチャーである。古代インドの仏教の印から縁起され、また京劇文化には女性らしさを象徴する優雅なものとなり、そして現代社会では男女の格差を示しシンボルとなった。近年の蘭花指シリーズ作品ではこのモチーフに含まれているジェンダーの曖昧さをテーマにして漆作品を制作する。

The orchid finger shape is a gesture of the human hand. It originated from an ancient Indian Buddhist hand gesture, became an elegant symbol of femininity in Peking Opera culture, and has become a symbol of gender inequality in modern society. In the recent orchid finger series, I create lacquer works based on the theme of the gender ambiguity contained in this motif.
