作品の制作手順はほとんど決まっている。まず、木枠を組み立て、麻布を張る。膠を引き、地塗りする。地塗りはあえてその痕跡を残す。そして、キャンバスを平置きにしたまま、油絵具を薄く均一に乗せる。地塗りの微妙な厚みの差によって、絵具の染み込む具合が変化したり、変色が生じたりして、その痕跡が露わになる。移ろう画面を眺めながら、そこに何かが立ち現れるまで、絵具を乗せては拭き取ることを繰り返す。流動するイメージは、やがてどこかに辿り着く。そうして、世界の一部として編み上げられた風景は、その在り方を自ら提示する。
About the Artwork
これまでと同様の手順に加えて、ステンレス製のたわしで表面を削ることで、新たなイメージの現れを模索した作品。露わになった地塗りや絵具の層は時間の堆積や風化を思わせ、反復する痕跡は波打つような帯状のリズムを生み出している。潮の満ち引きが海岸にその周期を刻むように、キャンバスの上にもまた巡る時間の痕跡が残されている。
