A Nakatsugawa Shota solo exhibition is confirmed!
plus art co.,ltd (Japanese: 株式会社プラスアート; located in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Taku Nitta), which develops its business around the theme of enjoying contemporary art, is pleased to announce that it will hold a solo exhibition of Nakatsugawa Shota from August 2, 2025, at "JAPAN ART BRIDGE (Unit N7)" in mAAch ecute Kanda Manseibashi.

Exhibition Overview|EXHIBITION
From Saturday, August 2, 2025 to Sunday, September 7, 2025, at "JAPAN ART BRIDGE" in Akihabara/Manseibashi, we will hold a solo exhibition by Nakatsugawa Shota, an artist who fuses tradition with the contemporary.
Studying nihonga (Japanese-style painting) on his own, Nakatsugawa Shota has established a singular form of expression that incorporates contemporary techniques such as graffiti and silkscreen. In recent years he has expanded his stage at home and abroad, with exhibitions at venues including The Ueno Royal Museum, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and the Louvre.
This exhibition will present flat-surface works by Nakatsugawa Shota that fuse elements of traditional craft, nihonga, and graffiti. Do come and experience, in person, the dialogue between the historic arched space and a "new Japanese beauty" reconstructed through a contemporary sensibility.
ABOUT 中津川翔太

PROFILE
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1987. Graduated from the Department of Crafts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2009.
Captivated by traditional crafts, he studied nihonga on his own and succeeded in incorporating the imagery of graffiti. Adopting the silkscreen technique—rare in the world of nihonga—he sends out into the world works that hold their own internationally.
By bringing contemporary art to bear on a Japanese culture whose traditional crafts are gradually being lost, he creates work suited to the present age, earning overwhelming support from every quarter.
Recently, he succeeded in exhibiting at two major museums—The Ueno Royal Museum and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa—and in October 2019 he also exhibited successfully at the Louvre in Paris. He continues to broaden his activities not only within Japan but overseas as well, including Asia and Europe.

In the Edo period, it was also a hub of culture and transport where the Kanda River and two highways intersected. Starting from this place of historical and cultural value, JR East Group continues to expand art activities that make the most of its facilities and surroundings.
