作品説明
幼少期から漫画やアニメーションが好きなことが高じ、独学で絵を描き始める。アーティストとしての活動を通してデジタルツールであるパソコンやタブレットで制作する中、人々にとってデジタルの価値がアナログよりも希薄であり、多くの人が認識する「原画」「複製画」の解釈が自身の考えと乖離している事実を知った。 デジタルネイティブとして育った中森かりんは、デジタルツールを用いて初めに描き下ろされる作品を「原画」、デジタルイラストをキャンバスに描き下ろした作品を「複製画」と定義している。 絵の価値とは作品の「創作性」自体ではなく、作品自体が持つアーティストの想像力や表現力である「独自性」が重要視されると捉えており、「デジタル」も「アナログ」と同様の価値への位置付けが可能なのではないかと考えている。 この疑問と「アナログ」に対する本人の概念から生まれた価値基準をもとに「デジタル」の価値を証明する対比として、アナログ技法を用いてアシスタントによって「Naachin」シリーズを大量に制作し定義の実証を行ってきた。 「Naachin_AI’s Vision」では本シリーズの重要要素である部分は人口知能(AI)によって制作を試みた。人口知能であるChat GPT4に作品制作の全工程をインプットし制作スケジュールやタイトルを生成させ、作品の軸となる女性モチーフを生成形AIによって成形し、作家の独自性が反映されず、価値の低い要素と定義している。 これまで「アナログ」の制作数を増やすことにより自身の「デジタル」原画に付加価値を高めることを主軸としていたが、本作品は人工知能とアーティストの独自性を反映させたアナログ手法である自らの手書きとを掛け合わせることにより「アナログ」と「デジタル」の共存を具現化している。 また、制作手法を開示することにより、一見しただけではアーティストの真の価値の所在を見つけるのは容易いものではないことを示し、鑑賞者が何に焦点を当て、心を動かされるかで、アートの真の価値の見え方も千差万別であるということを示唆している。 そして、アナログとデジタルテクノロジーの両媒体が持つ異なる要素や文化的背景を認識し、それらを融合して新たなアートの価値を創ることに焦点を当てている。 媒体や技法に捉われることなく、自身にしかない審美眼を持つことのきっかけとなり、両者の価値に対する解釈を再考する作品として是非ともご覧いただきたい。
