Artist name: Shinnosuke Uchida
Profile:
Born in 1988.
Based in Tokyo. Graduated in 2013 from the Oil Painting Course, Department of Painting, Faculty of Art and Design, Tama Art University.
While still a student, the artist presented paintings depicting night scenes made entirely from the small round stickers sold as stationery; the unexpected choice of material and the beauty of the imagery earned the Audience Award at the 2012 Tokyo Midtown Award.
Since then, the artist has been active as a fine artist.
Exhibitions have been held at venues such as Ginza Mitsukoshi, the Takasaki City Museum of Art and the Chofu City Culture Hall, and a solo show was also held in France at the invitation of the Japan Tourism Agency.
Every year the artist presents many works both in Japan and abroad.
Beyond creating artworks, the artist supervises audience-participation workshops in which anyone can take part simply by placing stickers, and has appeared as the round-sticker art judge on the MBS program "Prebato!!", conveying the fun of "round-sticker art" and the joy of self-expression to a wide audience.
