plus art co., ltd. (registered office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Taku Nitta), a company built around the theme of enjoying contemporary art, will present "NEW JAPANESE PAINTING - 不易流行 -," a two-person exhibition by Ayame Higuchi and Shiori Fujimura, from January 15, 2024 at +ART GALLERY on the 3rd floor of Tokyu Plaza Shibuya.

Having run a gallery for three years on the 14th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square in the heart of Shibuya, +ART GALLERY now begins a new chapter on the 3rd floor of Tokyu Plaza Shibuya within Shibuya Fukuras, Shibuya's new commercial complex. +ART GALLERY will continue to hold exhibitions aimed at growing the community of people who enjoy collecting art and at supporting artists' careers.
CONCEPT: NEW JAPANESE PAINTING - 不易流行 -
This two-person exhibition presents works by Ayame Higuchi and Shiori Fujimura. Both artists work within the framework of nihonga (Japanese painting), a form of two-dimensional painting, yet each creates pop, approachable works that overturn the classical imagery and the notion that nihonga appeals only to a select few. Both are sought-after, much-talked-about artists who have already found buyers among contemporary art collectors.
Please come and experience this new era of "NEW JAPANESE PAINTING" - works that embody fueki-ryuko (preserving the timeless while embracing the new) and breathe fresh life into the world of nihonga!
Exhibiting Artists

She fuses Japan's classical modes of expression with contemporary digital elements to create nihonga that deliberately evoke a sense of ambiguity.

Born April 10, 2000. Born and based in Tokyo.
I create my work hoping to bring even a little brightness to the hearts of those who view it. Ever since I was a child, I have painted with the wish to warm people's hearts even a little through my pictures. That feeling remains unchanged today. I am still searching for a color and a world that are uniquely my own, but I would be delighted if this exhibition could move people's hearts even a little.
Gallery Attendance Days / Press
