“SYNESTHESIA” — introducing the artist 鈴木潤.
鈴木 潤
Biography
Influenced by a father who was a ceramic artist, he was surrounded by all kinds of art from an early age. In 2014 he moved to Tokyo and began working in earnest on the ballpoint-pen drawings he had previously made as a hobby.
In 2020 he also took up acrylic painting, expressing themes such as life and death, love, and positive messages, with a sincere wish to forge a heartfelt connection with viewers and with people living in the future.

Works

LOVE #10
Acrylic on Canvas
H410×W530×63(mm)
2022
Behind the word LOVE, creatures carrying all kinds of emotions are depicted loving one another and playing with innocent abandon.
The simple joy of finding pleasure in painting is, to me, deeply important, and that feeling fills each finished work with affection.
The work expresses how precious it is, in the course of living, to love someone and to love something.
Through my work I hope to send out a positive message that love exists, reaching the hearts of people living now and in the future.
VOICE #3
Acrylic on Canvas
H410×W530×63(mm)
2022
Listening to those many voices can sometimes save us, yet at other times we hear words that do nothing but wound.
Across the background of the word “VOICE,” countless voices uttered by creatures of every emotion fly back and forth.
Through this work I have given form to the many “voices” raised in our chaotic times, with a wish for a world where positive voices resound.
Purple Marilyn
Acrylic on Canvas
H727×W606×25(mm)
2022
Using the technique of appropriation, this work takes a familiar figure and renders it through the artist's own filter, exploring the theme of “freedom.”
Tiny creatures become individual cells, gradually filling the main motif.
The main motif and the creatures released from the mind are deliberately left unconnected, building a free world whose meaning is never narrowed to a single reading.
I believe that an expression containing so many elements sparks chemical reactions, broadens contemplation, and lets each viewer create their own free narrative.

Staff Comment
At first glance the backgrounds look like patterns, but look closely and you'll see charming, distinctive little creatures filling every corner.✨ Each one has its own expression and movement, making it a joy to ponder the message woven into the work! In every piece the balance between the lettering, the illustration, and the creatures isexquisite, so they read clearly and feel beautifully cohesive! Do come and observe the creatures for yourself at the venue!
