HOLBEIN ART FAIR 2022 3rd — Featured Artist: 福田 絵里

福田 絵里
What I depict in my paintings is not reality but an unseen world.
Reality can at times become an object of fear. To take refuge from it, I began to create a world that does not exist in reality.
The world is not entirely something the eye can grasp. The human heart, the spirit or a divine presence, vapor and air—I believe that striving to see the unseen, and giving it a form that can be seen and felt, is a way to perceive this world more deeply.
For me, society is at times a difficult place to live in, yet to survive I must engage with it. My works are forged out of the friction that arises from coexisting with society.

Looking at Fukuda's works gives a feeling of being gently enveloped. All sorts of thoughts and reveries unfold in your mind—where within the work you yourself exist, how you came to slip into this world. Please come and behold for yourself the delicate expressions that spread across her canvases ✨(Neda)
