PROFILE
坪山斉は1981年、宮城県仙台市生まれ。
東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科修士課程 油画技法・材料第一研究室修了後、現在は福岡県を拠点に作品を制作している。
その無二性や経年変化の少なさから個人認証システムに利用されている「眼の虹彩」をモチーフに、フラットな色面で描いた「Iris」シリーズや、その虹彩の一部を抽出し抽象性を帯びた「Light」シリーズを展開。
「独立しつつ、どこかに含まれている」という個と公の関係や側面、そしてその本質を鑑賞者へと問いかけている。
近年の主な展覧会に、「Return to seeing」（Contemporary Tokyo、東京、2024）、「暖流 Warm Current Chinese & Japanese & South Korean Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary Art」（Powerlong Museum、上海）、「identify」（ラディウム-レントゲンヴェルケ、2018）、「『Portrait』展」（スパイラルガーデン、東京、2019）などがある。
