I am currently creating works that add modernity to the Yamato-e painting style seen before the Edo period, and re-proposing the value of Japanese paintings.

Since the Meiji era, the style of Yamato-e has been reduced as it has been heavily influenced by Western countries. The Yamato-e drawing method is conscious of Western-style three-dimensionality and depth, and departs from the method of drawing with surfaces, instead using a method of expressing objects with lines from a subjective, two-dimensional perspective. With the decline of Yamato-e, this characteristic was inherited by manga, anime, and games, and developed as a Japanese subculture, and is now Japan's main culture.

Manga, games, and anime have always existed since I was a child, and I have spent every hour of my sleep playing them. Through this experience, I was able to develop my sense of beauty, imagination, and ability to create things, and also learn about human stories, history, and love.

I believe that a part of the essence of a country can be found in these Yamato-e paintings and other objects that have been carefully examined and preserved during the continuous development of culture from previous eras. And by expressing the essence of it as a person living in the present, when people in the future look at my paintings, they will discover the era and the continuity of culture that has been connected to that era from the past, and they will also be able to creates based on this and connects it to the future. I believe that by continuing to depict the ever-changing values and the culture born within them in each era, we will ultimately create a new world and envision the future.
