Alongside working as an artist in Weekly Shonen Jump, began working independently on social media under the separate name “kazukioekaki.” Active across a wide range of fields, including animated music videos, album-cover illustrations, book and magazine illustrations, and apparel.

[Biography]
Won an award in a Weekly Shonen Jump manga contest while a student, launching a career as an artist.
After graduating, drew manga while also working as a designer at an apparel manufacturer.
During this time, began posting illustrations on social media and started working independently as well.
Later left the company and continues to work today, focusing mainly on manga and independent illustration.

This work depicts an artist awakening to music, chiefly through their instrument. The muted tones also convey that they are still inexperienced in the world of music. I drew the guitarist in a commanding, confident pose.

A piece from the “Whimsical Curious-Beast Caricatures” series, one of my signature bodies of work.
Under the theme “somehow it looks fun,” I depict various scenes that unfold in a certain town. A defining feature is that each image carries a few minutes of story on either side, packing in far more detail than a single illustration would seem to hold.
I found the endearing bond between sisters with a wide age gap lovely, so I drew a squabble between an older sister making a bento and her little sister.

It started from the silly thought that if someone actually proposed at a bakery in the morning, it would be quite a nuisance.

This is about 20% based on a true story. My hair gets oily easily, so it ends up like this almost every morning.

kazukioekaki's works are simply fun to look at! The fisheye-like distortion of space heightens the sense of presence and even keeps the viewer on edge (laughs). The characters' expressions look as if they might spring into motion at any moment, and there's a sense of story woven into even the finest details—are part of what makes them so appealing! The guitarist and bassist pieces strike battle-ready poses, as if they're about to face off—so cool! And the way they capture the moment of awakening to music is wonderfully stylish✨(Fujinuma)
