1. Profile introduction
Artist name: Taishi Urakawa
Taishi Urakawa was born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1994 and graduated from Kyushu Sangyo University Faculty of Art in 2017. Characterized by spatial compositions that reference the spatial depiction methods of games and Google Maps, and digital brush strokes using Photoshop and paint software.
Recent exhibitions I have participated in include "It's not over until it's over" (Kumamoto City Museum of Contemporary Art, 2019) and "Urakawa Taishi x Nameless Sanemasa Exhibition: Window to a Strange Landscape" (Okawa City Seiriki Museum of Art, Fukuoka, 2019). 2021), ``Taishi Urakawa x Anonymous Sanemasa: Window of Extraordinary Scenery'' (contemporary HEIS, Tokyo, 2021), and ``False Landscape Exhibition'' (Chinretsukan, University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts, 2022). In 2015, he won the Excellence Award at the 24th British Exhibition ~3 Meter Radius~, and in 2018 he won the Ohara Museum of Art Award at the VOCA Exhibition 2018.
2. Work introduction
"I am active mainly in Fukuoka, and mainly develop works about existence.
Existence clearly supports things, but on the other hand, it is extremely vague and never appears before us. By indirectly examining such "things" that we don't know whether they exist or not, even if it is impossible to do so directly, I think we can look at our existence from a different perspective. "
3. Recommended points
I get the impression that the digital touch, the things that appear in the space within the work, and the balance of everything are exquisitely intertwined. I'm intrigued by the textures within the work.
In recent years, he has been active in creating music jackets.
