Artwork Description

This work is titled "Symbiosis". We live by receiving the lives of living things. The one and only life we ​​have been given continues to live within us, symbiotically living, and continues to connect us to the next moment as a unique composite being. Shouldn't our thoughts, statements, and actions be done not arbitrarily, but with the consensus of the composite being? Perhaps new hope can be found by reconsidering things as a consensus, without being swept away by the force of emotion.

Using leather carving and a painted, three-dimensional leather cabochon (a colorful hemisphere), I expressed the character and the soul of the life I received. The character will age and darken over time, but the leather cabochon will not change like patent leather. This effect also conveys the idea that the life I received will continue to coexist with me until the very end.
