PROFILE
1968年9月23日生まれ
沖縄・石垣島出身の３人組バンド「BEGIN」のギターボーカル。
1990年シングル「恋しくて」でデビュー。CMで大ヒットした「海の声」など、様々なアーティストへの楽曲提供なども多数手掛けている。
学生時代は美大を目指していた島袋。もともと絵画・デザインに興味があり、BEGINのCDアートワークを手がけるなどしていた。これまでも趣味で絵を描くことが多かったが、10 年ほど前に沖縄へ移住したことをきっかけに本格的にアート制作を開始。
音楽、沖縄の文化、沖縄での暮らしからインスピレーションを受けた作風でこれまでも様々なアート展に出展してきたが、昨年自身初となる個展「NEIRO ~暮らしに音と色彩を~」 を沖縄県内で開催。
＋ART GALLERYにてアート展『Guitart Islandart』（ヨミ：ギタート アイランダート）は盛況の開催となった
