作品説明
革を扱っている中で、作家の中に、ある感覚が湧いてくる。「もったいない」という感覚。「勿体無い」とはその物本来あるべき姿が失われているということ。それはメッセージのように作家自身にも問いかける。まるで「胡蝶の夢」のように、私自身も「勿体無い」状態なのではないか？と。それを思い出し、あるべき姿を取り戻すことが出来る様、目醒めを待つ本来の価値を「偶像」として製作。
革本来の姿が一部でも残る様裁断し、半球状に立体整形し輝きを持たせた革で、古いものが新しいものへと生まれ変わっている状態、本来の価値を取り戻している様を表現しました。半球の一つはガラスです。全体を鑑賞し、その一つを発見する過程において、鑑賞者自身が持つ本来の価値は、その内側に無数に内包しているのだと、思い出すきっかけとなればと願い制作しました。
