This annual event held at +ART GALLERY on the 14th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square is in its third year, and we hope you will be fascinated and inspired by the works of these artists, who use a variety of styles and mediums to challenge contemporary art from a new perspective. I can.

Miho Nishikawa
He was in charge of the cover art for the Akutagawa Prize-winning works ``Hibana'' and ``Ningen'' written by comedian Naoki Matayoshi. Based on the concept of ``visible and invisible things,'' I evoke the memories of the person looking at the painting, imagine it, and use the act of ``seeing'' to discover what was not seen that was different from what is currently visible. I am drawing a picture that transforms into a crab.

Kotaro Otsuka
When I'm thinking about things, there are times when I forget that time has passed and just sit in a daze. At that moment, my field of vision was blurry, with nothing in focus, and for some reason it felt good. Through my works, I am freed from the concept of time and seek out the wasteful and ambiguous world that just lies there.

Shinya Okuma
``Fragmentation'' is once disassembled and reconstructed in its own image, and it transforms into something unique. The fragmented images present various aspects to the viewer. I create works focusing on things that are familiar to me, everyday scenes, and motifs.

Keiko Aikawa
Only a small part of the face is actually visible, and there are faces that are not visible and that even the person himself does not know. My work is to create the shape of a face that exists inside me or you, but I don't know if it exists. It's not just the face that you can see, but also the parts that you can't really see and it's complex. Recognizing faces is almost like getting close to that fact. I think it's important to think about faces when thinking about people you don't know at all.
For me, production means creating forms that have never been seen before. The face is the most visible thing in everyday life, and the act of destroying certain parts of it is like a way to escape from a fixed image.

Miho Kimura
It depicts cars and the extraordinary world surrounding them. A sight that can be seen in the future. A place that may already exist somewhere in this vast universe. I expressed this world through paintings.

2nd week: Hara Navi / Shoko Hirose / Suzuki Nobu / COCORO / Takuya Naganawa

Hara Navi
Born in Tokyo in 2001. He depicts the fundamentals of people and animals, such as "instincts and urges." I often draw inspiration from manga and songs. Lately, I've been interested in "anger."

Shoko Hirose
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2018, majoring in oil painting. After working as a designer at a game company, he is now active in the two fields of art and illustration.
He creates paintings by printing digitally created data and then adding touches using drawing materials. He also works as an illustrator under the name "Hirose" and has created illustrations for popular works such as domestic and international games, light novels, and "Hatsune Miku."

Suzuki Nobu
Utilizing his career as a leather accessory craftsman, he has been releasing works using leather carving techniques since 2020. The word "escape" is used as a concept to express the attitude of overcoming. By thinking about the relationship between people and the valuable leather that is a byproduct, we aim to create an answer to ``escape'' from the existing trend by creating pieces that will remain instead of being thrown away.
In addition, the fact that other living things are an essential source of nutrition for humans to survive reminds us of the fact that we live in interaction with other things, and gives us clues to reconsider our lives. This leads to re-recognizing and rediscovering oneself, and I believe that not only the relationship with something else, but also the relationship with oneself can become a source of daily nourishment.
I think about gratitude for life through the link between the leather that changes and grows over time and the self that matures and deepens through ``escape'' from the rigid ``before.''

COCORO
I think our lives, where we are surrounded by many digital devices every day and are always doing something simultaneously, have become picture-in-picture. We look at pictures and videos on our phones while eating, listen to music and send emails to friends while we move around. There are always square screens around us. I feel that the transformation of lifestyles in this digital society is a reflection of our current times, and I depict their daily lives.

Takuya Naganawa
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1982, is a dentist (Doctor of Medicine) and contemporary artist. After graduating from Tokyo Dental University in 2007, he conducted research on intractable pain (OFP) in the orofacial region at Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital and Aarhus University in Denmark, and developed a sensory testing device for the orofacial region. Received IADR (Boston, 2015) Neuroscience Award. Currently enrolled in graduate school at Digital Hollywood University. By applying the characteristics of contemporary art, we aim to improve the health literacy of people and children who are indifferent to medical care and health, and to prevent diseases.

Week 3: Hidehiko Iijima / Yukari Yamada / Ichiniho / Girl (SONYO) / Madoka Okoshi

Hidehiko Iijima
A tattered stuffed animal that feels disgusting and ungainly, but somehow endearing. Desperate to hide his own weaknesses, he becomes aggressive towards others.

Yukari Yamada
He creates paintings and poems based on the concept of "Find the sparkling moments in life." Expressing the excitement that we tend to forget in our daily lives through abstract paintings and collaborations between photography and painting. Through my works, I hope that people will rediscover the happiness of being able to spend their daily lives casually, and the revitalization and joy of the body and mind, which tend to slow down due to the hyper-evolution of modern technology. He is active both domestically and internationally, and his large-scale solo exhibition in Shanghai in 2019 received high acclaim. In addition, his method of staging the entire exhibition space as a work of art with the theme of ``enjoying art with all five senses'' has been well received.

Ichiniho
It was created with the image of storing things that you have loved and excited about since childhood in a toy box.

Girl (SONYO)
Born in 1999 in Seoul, South Korea. Graduated from Musashino Art University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Oil Painting. Based in Tokyo, she expresses her thoughts on femininity and the discomfort she feels in modern society, which is filled with various incidents and problems every day, using her unique bright colors, mainly pink, and her drawing style. They speak out through their activities.

Okoshi Madoka
Completed the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology in 2023. Graduated from Akita Public Art University in 2020. Week 4: Mitsuki Naka / Eiji Miwa / Jodai Watanabe / ITOSHI SAKHRANI / Beniko Choji

Nakamitsuki
Contemporary artist Mitsuki Naka has grown up as a digital native, with a diverse set of values ​​that are not bound by existing rules, using "music" as a motif, and themes of physicality and dialogue after spending time in a hospital due to hemiplegia in his early teens. I create my works using my everyday tool, the iPhone. The production process allows art to appear anywhere by converting it into data, but once the image is turned into a work, it is immediately deleted from the data on the "iPhone". We are creating new forms of art that have never existed before. Naka concentrates on his emotions in a moment and depicts them intuitively, but by turning them into physical works, he shares his values ​​with the viewer and forms a dialogue with them. The instantaneous saturation and atmosphere expressed from the music, as well as the smooth and powerful lines, give an impulse to the viewer.

Eiji Miwa
Originating from the purpose of ``drawing what you see as you see it,'' it now includes pictorial expressions of the process of receiving and processing visual information, the act of observational depiction expanded by modern technology, and the object information and observer. I am researching "distance" in its various meanings.

WATANABE Kunihiro aka JohDai
Born in Ehime Prefecture in 1983. After working as an assistant to a manga artist, he began creating paintings and taking nature photographs, mainly starry skies, while mountain climbing, using the techniques and concepts of Japanese manga as a concept.

ITOSHI SAKHRANI
Born in Tokyo in 1987. He is a mix of British, Indian, and Okinawan descent, and has a background that grew up in a borderless environment.

concept

When I think about what it means to express myself in my own way, the first thing that comes to mind is my family and then the environment in which I grew up. I believe that individuals are formed by the DNA they inherited from their parents and the influences of the things they have been exposed to from birth to the present, and from this, their daily habits and scenes are born.

I believe that all of these things are a series of irreplaceable things, and when it comes to creating things, I place emphasis on enjoying them freely. By not being bound by (social value standards) (plans and meaningful things) (emotions of superiority and inferiority, etc.), the things that make me up will take on different colors and shapes and naturally appear on the screen. There is life, there is flesh and blood. Production is a dialogue between the artist and the work, and is like a phenomenon in which they mutually change. When viewing the works, please feel free to feel the works in your own way.

Clove Beniko

Presenting Japanese paintings mainly at department stores and galleries in Tokyo. We aim to engage in activities that allow people to feel closer to "Japanese paintings" in their everyday lives, such as book bindings, CD jacket artwork, and collaborations with apparel and eyewear brands.
